Girls Camp

Summer has been really distracting and I have had like no inspiration and no time to blog so it has been awhile. But I now have time and something to type about. I just recently got back from my third year at girls camp and it was pretty fun but also disappointing. I think it was disappointing because I had such high expectations for this because the past two years before this one were absolutely amazing. Also, things got really competitive with the girls. You see there are 3 different groups at camp (1st, 2nd and 3rd years) and this year there was a doll that we had to hide from each other and whoever had the doll on friday did not have to clean the bathrooms. And the girls in my ward are pretty competitive. The dolls head at the end was almost completely ripped off and there were two huge fights that had hits, scratches, hair pulling and even locking sydney baugh inside of the bathroom. before Friday came around the competition ended because things got a little too crazy. The point of the doll was to bond, not fight. Luckily for me I was not in any of the fights but I will not deny that I was in fact competitive also.
One of my favorite memories was when me and Sydni Frost played this game where I threw licorice bits at her and she had to catch them in her mouth, and of course she missed a lot so we decided to "recycle". You see after most of the licorice was gone me and Syd picked up all of the pieces that weren't caught off the DUSTY floor and I through them back at Syd's mouth and if she caught them she wouldn't swallow them, she would turn around and spit them into the trash can. And on one of the times Syd caught one, Ashley Freestone came walking by the target zone and Syd totally spit all over her, but the funny part was Ashley had no idea what happened so she just continued to trot along, so hilarious. I also enjoyed the snipe hunting, taunting the ghost monah, and the glow stick fights even though the glow sticks got in our eyes and that hurt oh so horribly. I also made a lot of new friends! Which is totally my favorite thing in the world. I also liked on the last day before the busses came to take us home we got like 30 girls from different wards to play jigelow and ride that pony, that part was unforgettable. Oh and I am trying not to say the negative things about camp so I can keep this blog peachy(:. So I am going to post some of the pictures that I took, not all of them because they are all on facebook. But I will put up ones that would make your day that much brighter. I thought this quote was funny because it was in the bathroom, this was the first day with my sister, Kyra Baugh and Jaedyn Rose

This was before our skit where we lip synced to Living on a prayer, we had to look "tough"

This was some of mine and Syd's licorice bits

These were my favorite second years from the Boulder Creek ward

Me and Syd were modeling our capes with the fire power pose

Yes so those were just a few of the photos, you can check out the rest on facebook if you are interested.
I am now really looking forward to disneyland, chalk night, movie night, mcdonalds and other stuff that is yet to be planned

I Will Follow You Into the Dark

I was on the way home from he movies with Katti and her brother last night and the ipod played I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab For a Cutie. I had never heard this song before but I really liked it. So I decided to read over the lyrics and the meanings and interpretations people had and sort of made my own conclusions about the song.

Love of mine some day you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark

No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me
"Son fear is the heart of love"
So I never went back

If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
'cause we'll hold each other soon
In the blackest of rooms

If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the No's on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark

Ben Gibbard (the writer) wrote this song as a promise to a loved to always be with her even after she dies. Before he ever wrote the song his life led him to an obsession over death and things like that. It got him thinking of the importance of the people that were currently in his life and he wanted to show that so he wrote this song.
When he says in the song "I'll follow you into the dark" by dark he means death and that if his loved ones ever died he would always be with them even though he is alive and they are not.
I found that really fascinating, and it got me thinking about the importance of people in MY life, (now I am not about to go write a song about it or anything I am just going to blog). I would still want to somewhat "represent" someone that was really close to me after they died, I would "follow them into the dark." People may think differently but I think when people die they are in some way still with us even though they aren't physically. It is almost like a guardian angel. They will always be there watching over us and protecting us.

Another part that really stuck out to me was when Ben said "If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the No's on their vacancy signs" Ben doesn't believe in Heaven or Hell, he believes it is just one place. I mean, I believe otherwise but it is interesting that someone could believe something that others may think is totally crazy. But imagine what if there was just one place where you go when you die and everybody that died before you and all that will die after you will be there as well. No matter how bad or good you are you were accepted into this one place that is just a place where everybody can be safe and with the people they have lost before.

One last part I just want to comment on is maybe the most inspiring part of the song for me. "You and me have seen everything to see From Bangkok to Calgary And the soles of your shoes are all worn down The time for sleep is now It's nothing to cry about 'cause we'll hold each other soon In the blackest of rooms" What I got from this and what I have read and concluded to was that death can't be permanently stopped, yes there are things to delay it for only a period of time but in the end death cannot be prevented. At the beginning of this part he is saying pretty much we have had our run and we have done everything we could have possibly done but now it is time to die (sleep) and we shouldn't cry over it and tear ourselves apart because "it is only natural". I do think that death is something to cry over but to tear yourself apart is not the best decision

I think this is definitely one of the prettiest songs about death that I have ever heard, and even though I don't agree with a lot of the things Ben was trying to convey I still think it is quite inspiring.

Friendlyness

On facebook people (including me) have been putting their status as "If you "like" this status, I will post on your wall something I like about you. Make this your status if you want a challenge.:" And others have posted thing similar to that but instead of something I like about you they will just post what they think of you. So in other words if they came through with what they posted as their status if someone they didn't like "liked" their status they would be 100% truthful. Now some of my friends posted that as their status and I came across a person that liked their status that I knew my friend had had bad experiences with. She is a pretty bold person and I figured she would speak her mind but she didn't she had written an entire paragraph about how cool they are and how they have always been best friends and crap like that.
-This situation really got me thinking about the internet and how nice someone can be on the internet and they could be a totally different person in reality. Some people are scared to do things on the internet so they make up an entire lie.
-I was also thinking about how that could be the total opposite you could be so cruel on the internet and be an alter ego in reality.
Me being me, I was watching Phineas and Ferb and it came to a commercial about internet safety and one of the things they mentioned was "If you wouldn't do it in person don't do it online" I think this goes for both situations. But i am going to relate it to the second one. If you are not going to be brave enough to face someone in person then you definitely shouldn't do it online. It makes you seem almost wimpish (oh and I know I haven't had the best track record with this). Like on formspring how you can comment on peoples profiles anonymously and ask them questions, which is the point of formspring. Unfortunately, people abuse this power and start hating on people like crazy! They are saying things I KNOW they would never say in person because they did it anonymously.
Doing things on the internet is VERY dangerous so I try to avoid the whole drama concept online because it can really only lead to more drama, i kid you not.
I think we should all definitely listen to Phineas and Ferb ;)

On a different note: I dropped my phone in the pool the other day and i put in rice and it has made an almost completely. everything works just fine except the fact that my phone can recognize my charger but it won't charge it! How unfortunate

On the plus side HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYRA PONKILLA I am going over to her house later to give her her presents then going to serve food at a wedding with Katti!
Oh and my mom is getting her 2nd ultrasound today and we will find out for sure if it is a boy or girl.

disappointed.

Well i was supposed to be babysitting this week and next week from 6:30-3:30 and i would make about $45  day and overall get about $400 in the end. Well i am sad now because i am not going to be babysitting at all this week and maybe only like 1-2 days next week which means i will not be making bank like i should have been. Which also means that i need to do even MORE babysitting/jobs to earn money to go to disneyland. fun? not really. I am so disappointed right now.

Yesterday i went to the mall with Jennifer Banks and Kim Hunyhl. It was sort of long and boring but i had fun. We spent like 30 minutes in like 5 different stores because Jenny couldn't make up her mind about anything and every time we were about to leave the store she would find something new she wanted to buy it was quite entertaining. Well me and Kim got some pretty good conversations in about girls and what they do now in high school as compared to when we knew some of them in elementary school. I think it is really crazy how much someone can change in just a few years, and i don't mean like minor changes i mean full out like your almost a different person kind of change. Like this one girl i knew in grade 5 she used to be a TOTAL tomboy and now she is one of the most girly-girls you will ever meet. kind of crazy if you ask me.

Well i really cannot wait until Jenny Jensen gets home so we can finally follow through with chalk and movie night. And i could really use a good ol' hang out right about now so let us make some summer plans, soon!
